VE Day 80th Anniversary Celebrations

Victory in Europe

To mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day, our school held a special celebration to help pupils understand and reflect on this important moment in history.

We recreated the spirit of the original celebrations with a cheerful outdoor party. Pupils enjoyed a delicious buffet in the sunshine, bringing everyone together to share food, fun, and a sense of community. Traditional wartime music played in the background, helping to set the scene and give pupils a feel for what the celebrations might have been like back in 1945.

The whole school joined in for a lively game of rounders, encouraging teamwork, friendly competition, and plenty of laughter—just as families and communities would have gathered for games and fun all those years ago.

It was a wonderful way to combine learning about history with enjoying time together, and a great opportunity for our pupils to appreciate the significance of peace and remembrance in a meaningful, engaging way.
